SpeedTrac X Sports Radar Review
The SpeedTrac X Sports Radar Gun is a hands free (operator not required) continuously transmitting speed measuring system. Just set this small unit up, turn it on, and read the speeds on the large LED display. Speeds are displayed for 2-3 seconds before automatically clearing. The radar stores the last measured speed that can be accessed by pushing the "recall" button.
The unit displays speed in either mph (15-150 mph) or km/hr (24 - 199 km/hr)". The Pro-Speed mode (low speed cutoff) changes the low end speed measuring limit to 35 mph (56 km/hr), unit ignores speeds lower than 35 mph.
The radar automatically shuts off (to save power) if a speed is not measured within 5 minutes. This function (default) can be disabled so the radar does not automatically shut down.
The SpeedTrac runs on 4 C size batteries, or an optional AC power (house current) adapter (specify for USA, UK, or Europe). Other options include a mounting tripod, a tuning fork (to test accuracy), and a carrying bag.
Bushnell Speedster 2 Sports Radar Review
The Bushnell Speedster II Sports Radar is a light weight easy to use speed measuring radar. Just turn the radar on and press the trigger to (transmit) measure speed (in MPH or KPH). When the trigger is released transmission stops and the radar displays the fastest speed measured during the transmission period.
Many sport radars (and all police traffic radars) lock the LATEST (last) speed measured when locking (for display) speed. The Speedster locks (displays) the FASTEST speed measured during a transmission period. All objects (baseball, softball, hockey puck, tennis ball, golf ball etc.) are at their fastest just after release or hit (and only get slower with distance). By displaying the fastest speed it does not matter exactly when the trigger is released (only that the trigger is depressed when the object is thrown or hit), reducing human errors. By measuring (locking) fastest speed makes for more consistent measurements and better athlete performance comparisons.
The radar measures either ON-COMING (approaching) objects, or RECEDING (going) objects. In the unlikely event 2 different objects close to the same size traveling opposite (or near opposite) directions are in the radar beam at the same time, the radar rejects any measurements (no reading displayed).
The larger the object, the greater the range (distance) the radar can measure speed. The radar can measure golf ball size objects to tractor trailers. Even a bird's speed can be measured, although it is difficult to catch a bird flying directly toward or away from the radar (for an accurate measurement). It can even measure the speed of falling rain.
